TALK

How do you attempt to connect the lives of 20,000 students, administrators and community members? Simple. Ask them to TALK. It’s much more appropriate to TALK about the brand we created, so if you want to learn more about the project I’d love to chat with you.

The quick story: We created a brand and designed a logo.

We established a mission statement and plan of attack.

We conducted interviews to learn about the people we pass walking down the streets each day. Then built a website so community members could watch the interviews and connect with the personal stories. Take a look.

We found connections and figured out ways to show them. It turns out we’re much more connected than anyone thought.

These connections were only the beginning. We made a brand book and advertisements to raise brand awareness on campus. Want to see them? Let me know…to find out more, in the spirit of the project, we should TALK

Oral-B Floss

Oral-B floss is a great brand. Some may even say a magical one.

Banner Ads:

1. Poof! That popcorn kernel never stood a chance! Oral-B Floss, it’s like you have magical teeth.

2. Viola! First your gums start to bleed, then they don’t! Oral-B Floss, it’s like you have magical teeth.

3. Abra Cadabra! A trip to the dentist without the co-pay! Oral-B Floss, it’s like you have magical teeth.

Major League Baseball: Rawlings

It’s obvious to any sports fan that baseball has fallen from its throne atop the major sports franchises in America. The recent years of scandal and investigation have come when the country it used to represent has struggled to set the bar for the rest of the world. The Rawlings MLB campaign reminds Major League Baseball, from players and coaches to owners, front office executives, and even fans, that hope is not lost.

The full page ads would run in the middle of the USA Today Sports section directly next to the baseball box scores during the summer baseball season.

At the same time, the ads would be blown up into large posters and placed within walking distance of major league stadiums for fans to read as they approach the ballpark.

The second phase of the campaign gives fans the opportunity to talk directly to Major League Baseball and share their perceptions of the league. Using pre-addressed and stamped postcards, fans are given a voice in the conversation of baseball’s future. Digital postcards can also be downloaded online and e-mailed directly to mlb.com.

Sustainability

The University of Oregon has always been a leader in campus sustainability, but the Sustainability Department itself has struggled to connect with students and build a strong presence within the campus community. It was our job to create a brand that empowered a campus to work together to make a difference and change the behaviors of thousands of students. What started with a renovated, user-friendly website grew into viral videos and creative experiences. The brand overhaul was headlined by a View-Master campaign which positioned View-Masters in common areas throughout the campus serving as windows into the future of the University.

Viral videos captured students attention and circulated through multiple platforms to drive students to the website and increase brand awareness. Plastic Bag Monster: Tyler Kirsch. Cardboard Box Monster: Jamison Merrill. Paper Monster: Rachel Hom. Production: Matt Nockelby.

The headlining View-Master campaign brought the brand into the daily lives of students, administrators and campus visitors.

Electron Close-ups

I’ve thought bugs were cool since I was 3. I think they’re even cooler when magnified by 10,000x

I took these images in the nano-technology lab of the Biology Department at the U of O.
